Minimally Invasive Arthroscopy

Arthroscopy is a keyhole surgical technique that allows complete joint evaluation and repair using incisions smaller than a shirt button. Dr. Vikrant Sinha Roy deploys high-definition scopes for precise joint preservation.

The Arthroscopic Advantage

HD Visual Diagnostics

A miniature camera (arthroscope) is inserted into the joint, transmitting a high-definition, magnified 3D feed onto operating room screens. This allows Dr. Vikrant to evaluate cartilage, ligaments, and tendons with absolute clarity, identifying microscopic tears that might not show up on standard imaging.

Micro-Incisions & Portals

Instead of cutting open the joint (arthrotomy), arthroscopy uses two or three portals measuring only 4mm to 5mm. Muscles and tendons are gently parted rather than cut, maintaining structural integrity and preventing muscle weakness.

Targeted Micro-Surgical Repair

Using specialized, miniature tools, Dr. Vikrant can repair torn ligaments (ACL, PCL), shave or repair damaged meniscus cartilage, or stitch rotator cuff tendons, restoring joint function without disrupting surrounding healthy tissues.

Common Arthroscopic Procedures

Knee Arthroscopy

Ligament reconstructions (ACL/PCL), meniscus repairs, and removal of loose bodies/bone spurs.

Shoulder Arthroscopy

Rotator cuff repairs, Bankart repairs for recurrent dislocations, and subacromial decompression.

Ankle Arthroscopy

Treating cartilage damage, anterior impingement, and chronic instability.

Hip Arthroscopy

Addressing labral tears and femoroacetabular impingement (FAI).

Patient Tech Experiences

"I was amazed by the haptic feedback boundaries explained by Dr. Vikrant. Knowing the robotic arm would prevent the cutting tool from moving even a millimeter outside the safe zone gave me the confidence to go ahead."

— Bimal Mukhopadhyay, Salt Lake

Surgical Technology FAQs

No, the robot is an assistant. The surgery is performed entirely by Dr. Vikrant Sinha Roy. The robotic system provides haptic guidance, ensuring the surgical tools remain precisely within the pre-planned boundaries.

Robotic-assisted surgery may have a slight premium due to advanced software planning and consumables, but it offers better implant longevity, fewer complications, and a faster return to daily activity.
